Mayson: LAP-BAND Success
My name is Mayson. I am a 15 year old who has been struggling with my weight for almost four years. I was in an ATV accident in November of 2008, when I became virtually unable to use my right arm. I was diagnosed with CRPS – Complex Regional Pain Syndrome – in June of 2010.
Since the accident, I have had 3 spinal cord stimulators to help with the pain. During the last 4 years, my weight became out of control. I was unable to exercise and have been on tremendous amounts of medication and the pain was unbearable. I was depressed because of the pain and the weight that I had gained. I am a high school sophomore and the depression, pain and constant bullying over my weight was taking its toll on me.
In April of this year, I had the pleasure of meeting About Dr. Cywes. My mother and I talked to him with regards to Lap Band surgery. We told him about the surgeries and problems that I have been going through. After several visits, he felt like the surgery would benefit me.
On May 7th, my birthday, I had the Lap Band surgery. To date, I have lost 100 pounds and I feel so much better about myself. I still deal with the daily CRPS pain; however, I finally love myself again. Having this weight off will hopefully help me deal with the daily issues of CRPS. If I had to do it all over again, I would. Jacksonville Weight Loss and has truly made a difference in my life.
